Three preschool groups, each building on the last

Preschool at Happy's runs across three groups, so the pace and content always match what your child is actually ready for:

• Nursery (3–4 years) — first structured group experience: circle time, early letters and numbers through games, guided craft, and the start of real group listening.
• Playgroup (3–4 years) — a more social, activity-led group for children ready for more peer interaction and slightly longer structured sessions.
• Kindergarten preparation (4–5 years) — the final bridge to formal school: longer focus periods, more independence, and pre-academic skills built through play rather than pressure.

Inside the classroom

Each preschool classroom is set up in activity corners rather than rows of desks — a reading corner with picture books, a building and construction area, a role-play space, and a table for art and fine-motor work. Children rotate through these during guided and free-play blocks, which is deliberate: choosing an activity, sticking with it, and cleaning up afterwards teaches independence and focus far more effectively than being told to sit still. Rooms are bright and air conditioned, sized for the group, and stocked with age-appropriate learning materials rather than generic toys.

A typical day in our preschool programme

A preschool day is more structured than daycare free-play, but still built entirely around guided activity, not desks and worksheets:

• 8:00–9:00am — Arrival and settling-in free play.
• 9:00–9:30am — Morning snack and hygiene routine.
• 9:30–10:15am — Circle time: greetings, calendar, songs, and a story that introduces the day's theme.
• 10:15–11:15am — Guided learning activity: letters, numbers, or a themed project taught through games and hands-on materials.
• 11:15–12:00pm — Outdoor or active play for gross motor development.
• 12:00–1:00pm — Lunch and clean-up.
• 1:00–2:30pm — Rest or quiet activity, depending on age group.
• 2:30–3:30pm — Art, craft, or music session building fine motor and creative skills.
• 3:30pm onward — Free play, after-school classes, or transition into daycare pickup, depending on your child's schedule.

We don't believe in reducing a three-year-old to a percentage score, but we do believe parents deserve to actually know how their child is doing. Caregivers keep an informal record of what each child is working on — new letters recognised, a shape they've mastered, how they're managing turn-taking in group activities — and share it in two ways: quick, honest updates at pickup, and a fuller conversation with you every few months about where your child is thriving and where they could use a bit more support.
